Homeowners interested in saving money on energy bills and helping to reduce their carbon footprint are invited to the New Paltz 10% Energy Challenge Presentation on Tuesday, July 29, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Town of New Paltz Community Center.
The Town and Village of New Paltz and New Paltz Climate Action Coalition are partnering with the Green Jobs – Green New York Program at RUPCO to meet a goal of completing energy assessments for 10% of all homes in New Paltz through the NYSERDA Home Performance with Energy Star Program.
The 10% Challenge also includes 10% of the assessed homes to then complete an energy saving upgrade. The NYSERDA program provides free or low cost comprehensive home energy assessments, low cost financing and incentives for homeowners who want to improve their energy efficiency. Typically, the savings covers the cost of installation and more. Michael Courtney, Outreach Coordinator for RUPCO Green Jobs – Green New York, will present on what’s involved in getting a free home energy audit as well as financing options and income-based grants.
Community members are also invited to become Energy Advocates for the 10% Challenge. Energy Advocates share information with networks, friends, and neighbors and promote presentations and events on how to access a free/low cost Comprehensive Home Energy Assessment.
For more information, call RUPCO at 845-331-2140 x260, or email Michael Courtney at mcourtney@rupco.org.
